Ancient Greece Economy
Ancient Greece was one of the most advance economy in the world. Economy of ancient Greece was characterized by the extreme importance of importing goods and agriculture.
Agriculture /Farming- Most Greeks in most states actively involved in agriculture - most were small farmers, 'peasants'.Much of the land was owned by the propertied rich.
Stock breeding/ Ranching- It consists of of raising animals to get meat, milk, eggs or fur from them. Farmers feed the animals control their health and obtain products from them.
Trade- Consists of exchanging or or buying products like fish, vegetables, vases, pots, jewelry and clothes. Their were two type of trades ancient Greeks contributed to, long distance and local trading. Long distance trading included rich merchants who had ships sailed across the sea and mostly traded good like copper and wood to other surrounding areas. Local trading were in small shops in Greek cities, Peasants went to these areas to sell mostly crops. Craftsmen sold their products to their workshops.
